Gardner's Accounting and Finance Update January 2015

Happy New Year! We hope your 2015 is off to a great start!! While it is still too early to know how the year will shape up on the hiring front, the labor market is undeniably improving. The number of jobs added throughout the US in November and December make 2014 the best year for job gains since 1999. The unemployment rate for December was 5.6%, the lowest since June 2008.

It is clear that things are definitely looking up for our economy. With oil prices plummeting and lower energy prices overall, Americans confidence to spend is up. Additionally, the Fed continues to be patient and not raise interest rates.

As we stated continuously throughout 2014, this is great news for workers but less so for employers looking to build their organizations. Competition is still fierce for the pool of available candidates, especially at non-managerial levels.

We will continue to provide you with quarterly market updates as 2015 progresses. In the meantime, please reach out to us if we can be a resource to you in locating top talent in MA, NH or RI. If anyone in your network is considering a job change this year, we would welcome the opportunity to speak further with them to learn about their job search criteria. We thank you, as always, for your confidence in Gardner Resources Group and look forward to connecting with you in 2015!

All my best,

Dina Gardner and the Gardner Resources Group Team
